I’ve always felt that South Africa has so much untapped creative potential when it comes to the "magical" side of storytelling. We’re really good at making great romantic comedies, but I wanted to try something a little different.
I wrote this movie because I’m excited about exploring a more high-concept, imaginative side of our local cinema. It’s a special, funny story that brings a bit of magic to our screens, something we don't get to see every day in South Africa.
For me, this project is all about pushing our creative boundaries and making something genuinely cool that feels fresh and new for our audience. That’s why I’m so passionate about bringing this story to life!

Writer, Director, Producer: Ek Wens
My journey with the camera started when I was just 6 years old. Back then, it was all about making family videos and slideshows, but even as a kid, I knew I wanted to tell bigger stories. For as long as I can remember, my biggest dream has been to see one of my own films on the big screen in a cinema.
While I have a background in the corporate world, I’ve always stayed active in the creative industry. I’ve worked on commercials, been an extra in several television series, and I’m constantly writing new material. I also run a YouTube channel where I showcase my editing skills and creative projects, which has been a great way to keep sharpening my craft.
For me, this project is the culmination of a lifelong passion for art and media. It’s incredibly exciting to finally be bringing a feature film to life, taking all that experience from the small screen and the editing suite and aiming it right at the big screen where it belongs.
